Situé en face de la gare ferroviaire de Busan, le quartier a été baptisée « quartier de Shanghai ». Jumelée à la ville chinoise en 1884, la ville de Busan a d’abord inauguré une école chinoise dans ce quartier, puis un consulat la même année, elle y a également créé un secteur résidentiel réservé aux ressortissants chinois.
Dans ce quartier de style chinois, le monument principal est « la porte de Shanghai » construite communément par les deux villes jumelées. Avec ses nombreux restaurants et magasins chinois, ce quartier est connu non seulement par les touristes coréens, mais aussi par les chinois et le public international en général.
